I like:
reading
writing (of course)
painting
yoga
being with my friends and family
walking or running my dog
weeding my garden (really!)

I also like:
snowstorms
the color blue
a good cup of coffee

I don't like:
spiders
traffic jams
elevators
laundry in any shape or form
(especially the piled- high dirty kind)

My first published children's story appeared in Spider Magazine (Cricket Magazine Group). It was called "Not-So-Ordinary Cows". About six months later, my first picture book was released, Noises at Night which I co-wrote with author Beth Raisner Glass (Illustrated by Bruce Whatley; Abrams) I have since published two more picture books (Abrams), and a middle grade novel, The Upside of Ordinary (Holiday House). My stories have been published in Highlights Magazine, too.

I saw a mountain shaped like a table, a beach where penguins like to sunbathe with the people, a pack of naughty baboons swiping someone’s car keys, and other wild animals while on safari including elephants, rhinos, hippos, giraffe, leopard, and a honey badger. Here’s what a honey badger looks like in case you were  wondering, what the heck is a honey badger?

The Nesting Dolls
And here are a few
more random facts
about me:
I was an extra in the movie School Ties, I sing (quite badly) to my cats and dog, I get lost very easily, I have a small collection of nesting dolls.
I really wish I could spot an owl, I am terrible at remembering names and birthdays, I am really good at Banana-Grams and word problems. I can’t stand the sound of someone eating an apple.

I grew up in the snowy city of Bangor Maine. When I wasn’t building award-worthy snow forts and making snow angels, I spent a lot of time reading. I also liked writing poems and stories. I wrote my very first picture book, Fredfoot the Frog, in second grade. Although it did not get published, I did receive a “great job” sticker from my teacher.

I live in Massachusetts with my husband David, one dog, two cats and a fish named Jay Gatsby. I have two grown-up daughters who don’t live at home anymore but come to visit when they can. Except for the fish (who, despite his name, is not very social) my pets keep me company while I write…a giant black poodle named Bailey Blue that we think resembles a gorilla and the  cats Buzz & Woody who look so similar most people can’t tell them apart. Can you?

My favorite place I've visited is
South Africa.
Yuck!
