Includes a reading from my middle grade novel Lizzy and the Good Luck Girl, a discussion of where ideas come from, an interactive story building exercise, and “writing=revision” presentation.

Grade 3-8         60-90 minutes

Young writers workshops.

  1. BUILD-A-STORY: Using  a variety of story prompts, students will create the beginning paragraph or chapter of their own story.

  2. SHOW DON’T TELL: Using writing tools including dialogue, action verbs and our five senses students will learn to add punch and excitement to their writing. Pulling ideas from my “think outside the box” box the students participate in a fun and interactive “show don’t tell” writing exercise.
